The Usui System of Reiki Healing is an ancient healing art that was discovered in the early 1900s by Dr. Mikao Usui. The Japanese kanji characters on the left represent the words "Rei" and "ki" and can be translated most easily to "Universal Life Energy". This energy is all around us and is a part of all things. The Usui System of Reiki (pronounced ray-key) Healing allows us to act as a channel for this simple, yet powerful and life-sustaining energy.

Through this hands-on process, Reiki brings about a state of balance as it restores our health and physical harmony, soothes emotional stress, quiets the mind, and reconnects us to our spirit. When we are given an opportunity to relax and energize, our innate healing abilities are awakened and we can experience a deeper connection to ourselves and others. You may experience a Reiki treatment by itself or as part of your massage session.

Reiki can be learned by anyone and is not just for massage therapists; in fact, most students of Reiki are not healing arts practitioners at all.
